POSTPONE EDUCATION?

At this Covid 19 time, the best talk is the inspirational talk, giving hope to the people, making them understand the value of the times, that it builds up our resiliency.

No wonder, the number of cases spiked a few days ago -- we heard the saddest speech -- that education will be postponed.

UN HOLIDAYS

When we celebrate holidays with other people, we are making ourselves connected with the world in mind, health, emotions and body. We are showing that we belong to the larger humanity that wants this world to last and last forever. Moreover, it gives meaning to our existence and the subject being celebrated. So let us celebrate with the world these holidays in June.

MORE BENEVOLENT LOCKDOWN

I really don't understand why the food sector should suffer so much during lockdowns. People go to supermarkets to buy their food essentials. They go to markets to buy cheaper vegetables. They also go to restaurants to east as many do not cook anymore and prefer to eat out. I am one of the latter.

Yet I have to eat my food on the sly in the place where I had gone because eating is not allowed. Why?

When seniors go to supermarkets, do they think we can stand for hours and hours? No we must have a seat. And it is so depressing seeing chairs for sale yet you cannot sit on them.

In Tagalog, benevolent translation is MAPAGBIYAYA. Though we are concerned about the transmission of the Covid 19 disease, yet, we should be concerned with the living so much more. The living need to eat healthy foods. And so all the outlets for food must be available and accessible.

Social distancing is easy to observe inside restaurants and supermarkets. Everybody now upholds the use of facial masks as part of the fashion. So we should not be anxious nor afraid that we would catch the disease when we go to these places.

Folks let us write to the IATF to create benevolent rules especially for the seniors. Let us also remember to mention the pregnant women, PWD and women with children. FOOD IS THE BIGGEST TOOL TO STRENGTHEN OUR BODIES' DEFENSE AGAINST COVID 19.

So be it.

KAALAMANG WALANG HANGGAN

10 (World Science Day for Peace and Development) at marami pang iba.

*"One form of edutainment popular in Latin America is the educational telenovela. Miguel Sabido, a producer of telenovelas from the 1970s on, has combined communication theory with pro-health/education messages to educate audiences throughout Latin America about family planning, literacy, and other topics. He developed a model which incorporated the work of Albert Bandura and other theorists, as well as research to determine whether programs impacted audience behavior."https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Educational_television

WHAT IS DISINFORMATION?

."false information which is intended to mislead, especially propaganda issued by a government organization to a rival power or the media..."
That is the definition of DISINFORMATION.
How do we detect DISINFORMATION?
1. The report is incomplete. When writing news, it is imperative that the source observes the filling up of the following questions:
WHO
WHAT
WHERE
HOW
WHEN
WHY
2. An announcer is dishing out DISINFORMATION when:
it starts a report with the shocking statement that President Duterte is looking for a new health secretary and then ends the report with the statement that the present government official enjoys his support.
Question: what is the point of reporting then? The announcer did not mention who are asking for the dismissal of the health secretary and why. The ann
3. The announcer is reporting a one-line occurrence which has already ended but makes it appear as if the policy or program is still in force.
Example: He or she reports that the DSWD has the social amelioration program payout. But the report is very terse. It ends right away with the statement of calling out the government agency for verification. At that time, the SAP has just ended.
Question: What is the point of mentioning it at all? A radio station has no excuse of conducting disinformation even if it bases its existence on being a carrier of the Gospel. DISINFORMATION is a sin because it is deluding the listeners into thinking that the phenomenon or event being reported is occurring.
It is bringing the listeners to a state of belief that is no longer tenable.
4. An announcer is committing disinformation when through a song or songs that for the flock to talk to God is by making Him sound like a laundryperson - washing away the sins of the world. Nowhere in the Bible have I read that at all. The blood of Christ is what washes away the sin.
Instead in the many psalms that I have read, the appellang is asking God to give him or her the strength to overcome evil in this world, to save him from the oppressors.
I think pastors on air should examine their words properly and accurately in order to gather more adherents who are looking for moral directions. But if they themselves are in need of directions, then it becomes listening to him or her is a ridiculous exercise in massaging his or her ego in need of radio  listeners who would validate them.
5. An announcer is committing DISINFORMATION when it uses sexist language downgrading one sex over the other. Sexism is a prevalent on radio especially when women reporters are called "radyoman."
6. DISINFORMATION is committed when the information is written in deep Piipino words assuming that every listener counts in Tagalog.
In MetroManila, Taglish is the norm.
Folks, I would appreciate your opinions on this. Please send them through my Facebook account.

SEXIST LANGUAGE O LENGGWAHENG SEXIST

Every student will be reporting in August. He will have to bring his schoolbooks and pens.

Samakatuwid, walang he or she, kundi siya na maaaring magtukoy sa lalaki o babaeng estudyante.

GOD DID NOT CAUSE COVID 19

HOW DO WE BELIEVE IN THE AGE OF COVID 19?

"Here no promises. In Christ all promises.," said the announcer. Then she programmed funeral music on air.

I am wondering why Hong Kong which is not really a Christian nation is able to contain the corona virus yet a Christian director is there. I think HK tempers the religious beliefs of the Chinese there by allowing many religions to flourish: 600 Buddhist and Taoist temples, 800 Christian churches, five mosques, three synagogues, a Hindu temple and a Sikh temple.

In Vietnam which has zero Corona virus deaths has three:  Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism

But the Philippines, our country, has a high count of deaths due to Covid 19 despite our being predominantly Catholic 80.6%. We have other religions as well: Protestant 8.2% (includes Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches 2.7%, National Council of Churches in the Philippines 1.2%, other Protestant 4.3%), other Christian 3.4%, Muslim 5.6%, tribal religions . 2%.

Italy, Spain and now Brazil are racing in the charts for the highest cases of Covid 19.

Is there something in the Catholic and Christian religions that make people think that earthly life is the same as the after life? That is why those patie nts who contract the disease no longer fight to live here?

Is it possible that the patients are clinging to the idea that God is responsible for Covid 19, and that they need to be punished?

Or it is God's way of bringing a sign that he is displeased with earthlings' acts and behavior?

Or that it is all right to die of the disease after all they will see God?

I think we must also examine our religious beliefs as to why we have a high rate of deaths due to Covid 19. Other Catholic and Christian nations also must investigate what kind of prayers are being uttered to patients and what the contents of their prayers are while being treated.

A holistic approach to treatment of Covid 19 disease looks very necessary after two months have passed and still we are just teetering here and there among countless data that are not showing a totally flat curve.

EDVARD MUNCH, THE SCREAM

The Scream (1893)

ELUSIVE FREEDOM FROM FEAR

I have just learned that the senior citizens' subsidy is now under control of the mayor of Quezon City. No mention whatsoever as to when our subsidy shall be released. Yet everyday we hear that the funds for senior will be released -- by whom? when? and how much?

I wish the government would sing in unison and give us a complete picture as to how we can avail of help. Let us not act in piecemeal fashion because it only brings more stress. Unable to get out, I am under the control of invisible forces who tamper with my computer, when I can open my emails, how long I have to wait, when I can read my emails, which emails I can read, which websites I can open, which news I can read or watch, when I have to shut down my computer.

Yes, Folks, the fascist control of my life is quite complete. They are trying to instill fear in me every second of my life. Yesterday, I lost two very important documents right inside my unit.

Only my mind is free to compose music. plays and poems.

HOW SADISM WORKS

Here is how Sadism was employed during our fight against Covid 19:

First Day -- I was told to stay indoors as the coordinator for giving of seniors' subsidy will come to m unit. I live on the upper floor so I have no choice but to wait;

Second Day- the coordinator came but passed by my room until I had to go out and ask her, as she was at the farth,er end of the hallway already, why she did not knock on my door. she asked for a xerox copy of my senior citizen's ID;

Third  Day- I sent my ID through an emissary to the coordinator

Fourth Day - someone asked the barangay on my behalf about the status of my  case.  I was told that someone would come and give me my subsidy.

Fifth Day - I was asked to fill up a form. After doing so, I had it sent back to the coordinator.

Sixth Day - Another form: I was asked to fill up another form.

Seventh Day -- My neighbor said that she was going to line up at the barangay. I asked her to inquire about the status of my subsidy. She came back later and said that the bgy would send the money to my unit, as there are other seniors in the building.

Eighth Day - The emissary came and said she herself was denied the subsidy as she is not a voter in the place.

As for my case, she had no reply.

Ninth Day - last day for giving of subsidy. Till late evening, no one came.

At 9 in the evening, I heard a reporter over a Christian Broadcasting station, announce that DSWD is giving 8,000 to MetroManila residents, 5,600 to some outlying provincial residents, etcetera. This reporter did not know that the giving our of subsidies was terminated at 5 pm.

That's the way hopes were dashed during this Anti-Covid 19 Age. Can Sadism be labelled a crime, and what is the penalty for it?

www.britannica.com/topic/sadism
Sadism, psychosexual disorder in which sexual urges are gratified by the infliction of pain on another person. The term was coined by the late 19th-century German psychologist Richard von Krafft-Ebing in reference to the Marquis de Sade, an 18th-century French nobleman who chronicled his own such

MORE ONEROUS THAN COVID 19

When we contract Covid 19, the government takes care of us. But when we suffer from inflated bills of telecoms, we deal with the onerous bills alone.

That's a bigger headache than getting sick.

HUMANE PRICING?

LESSON NUMBER TWO:

Now we know that some businesses are highly inflated in terms of pricing. Knowing the weakness of the people for contacting friends and relatives, the telecom companies have highly priced fees for internet use and loads of celfones.

I think that we must have a presidential statement on this. We are already suffering from having to be cooped up in our homes. Yet using the internet and our gadgets has become highly prohibitive. We are not earning and yet we need to spend for these communication facilities as they are essential to our living a decent life, despite so many restrictions.

It is high time that our DICT, BIR, Congress and the Senate look into the pricing of telecom companies if they are humanely applied to a country that is reeling from the effects of a pandemic. Only a high level investigation is needed on this matter.

ALARM!

BEFORE UNLOCKING PARTS OF THE COUNTRY ON MAY 16, LET US IMPROVE OUR

HEALTH PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES:

WE MUST HAVE THOUSANDS OF TESTING KITS AND CONTACT TRACERS WHO

WILL LOOK FOR THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN INFECTED BY THE TESTED PATIENT.

THE VIRUS IS THE MOST DIFFICULT ENEMY NOW. IT ATTACKS THE BODY, THE

WHOLE SYSTEM AND PARALYZES NOT ONLY THE VICTIM BUT ALSO THE REST

WHO SURROUND HIM OR HER.

Ergo, it is important, highly important for us to be aware second by second to know what we are doing -- whether we are inviting the virus to proliferate and stay or to disappear forever.

LET US STOP IT!

LESSONS FROM COVID 19

Things will never be the same from hereon. We shall be forever wearing facial masks. We shall be wary of nearing any person. Otherwise, we would say he or she is a thief.

When we hand in our fares or make payments, we shall immediately sanitize our hands. Money is the dirtiest thing in the civilized world of business transactions I think.

We have to forget holding any pageant, concert or any theatrical shows since few tickets only may be sold as the theatres cannot be fully filled up. What then happens to our cultural skills?

I think composers and musicians in general are the lucky group since they can be creative singly or in twos only. Tell me in my FB page if I am wrong, Folks.

We have seen how flatfooted some government officials as the virus started its trek in our country. And how a lot of them showed their truer colors -- that they are not really there to serve the public, but their pockets. Pathetic indeed. By the way, until now I have not received anything save about six kilos of rice, about a dozen sardines, a two mats of vitamins.

This crisis shows to us how shallow the knowledge about nutritious eating of the officials who should be taking care of us. Do they expect us to eat canned foods everyday? And no message about how to keep ourselves strong and healthy to resist the virus. In other words, Folks the bureaucrats are just plain paper pushers.

Our complaining public are already alerting the current underperforming officials that they can no longer be depended upon to vote for them because of their poor showing in this crisis. One can never fault our people for thinking that way.

Now we should also tell the radicals in the countrysides to keep off all moves to give to the rural folks their amelioration packages. I think it is the height of insensitivity to be blocking food and help for them and using violent means is also highly un-Christian, beyond moral standards of decency and just plain callous ideological bent.

Let us pray always to make the government be responsive and sensitive to our needs despite all the struggles we have to plod through.

Paglipas ng dilim, may liwanag.

KONEKTADO DAW

Fifteen people under the workgroup have been found to be connected to my computer, according to the technician. Wow! Am I that famous? Or infamous? Whatever?

Why are they very interested in my writings?

COUNT THE MINUTES

Poverty Hunger ClipartConceptual Cartoon Of Paranoid Businessman Protecting His Gold ...

I learned that there are 3000 seniors in our area who will be receiving P8000 you count five minutes per recipient who will get the envelope, that would be 15,000 minutes. Now, 15,000 divided by 60 minutes per 1 hour = 250 hours. Now 250 divided by 8 working hours= 31.25 days. So from April 3 when the DSWD gave the money up to May 15 is 31 days, less Saturday and Sunday. But the times are critical so the LGUs must work including Saturdays and Sundays. So now it has 34 days already since the DSWD gave the money. We should have received our Social Amelioration Cash Assistance.

Now, the question, how does the DSWD release the money - bank to bank? Which bank receives LGU money? Can the money be withdrawn  anytime and placed in another bank? Baka mas malaki ang interest kaya?

Bankers and financial wizards please help us understand why releases are not forthcoming.

ON PURPOSIVE BALIK PROBINSIYA

Two coordinators,  Ka Sela and Ka Emma of a women's organization, Makamasa  in Tondo are talking about the "Balik-Probinsiya"  program of the government.

KA EMMA: A nostalgia.

KA SELA or Marcela Farola was the guiding light of Makamasa during its heyday in Magsaysay Village from 1984 to 2002. She now lives with her family in Cavite, dancing the zumba every morning. Makamasa would not have been able to survive without her high moral  standards and a firm belief in the God Almighty

KA EMMA was the over-all coordinator of Makamasa seeking help from outside to help the Tundo women attain equality, development and peace in their community.  Together with Ka Sela they walked the grounds of Tondo, walking among the women, visiting their homes and sympathizing with those who were victims of cruel husbands. The main project of the group then was Feminist Literacy for the home, the community and the society-at-large. Makamasa was funded by the Laubach Literacy International based in Syracuse, New York.
