ARISE PEOPLE AND STRENGTHEN OUR SENSE OF HISTORICAL ACCURACY

Filipino women led the movement for the restoration of democracy in the Philippines culminating in ending the one-man rule of Marcos through People Power on the 25th of February 1986 and the election of Cory Aquino as the first woman president of the Philippines.

That is the raison'etre for celebrating the People Power Movement every February 25. Now this phenomenon has inspired a lot of countries to revert to real democracies. Germany united her East and West countries, among other countries.

"The Revolutions of 1989 formed part of a revolutionary wave in the late 1980s and early 1990s that resulted in the end of communist rule in Central and Eastern Europe and beyond. The period is sometimes called the Fall of Nations or the Autumn of Nations,[4][5][6][7][8] a play on the term Spring of Nations that is sometimes used to describe the Revolutions of 1848." -https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolutions_of_1989

It is very apparent that our People Power Movement inspired a lot of countries to follow suit.

The big problem in our country are those quasi intellectuals who did not join our movement then and are now denigrating our efforts and calling our Movement a coup d'etat!  What is a coup d'etat?

coup d'état (/ˌk dˈtɑː/ About this soundlisten French: [ku deta], literally "blow of state"; plural: coups d'état, pronounced like the singular form), also known simply as a coup(/ˌk/), oustingoverthrow or putsch is the forcible expulsion/removal of power of an existing government by non-democratic means; typically, it is an illegal, unconstitutional seizure of power by a dictator, the military, or a political faction.[1] A coup d'état is considered successful when the usurpers seize and hold power for at least seven days.[1]

So under what meaning could anyone call the People Power Movement as a coup d'tat?  We marched at every rally and then massed around the military camps of Aguinaldo and Camp Crame in order to keep the movement peaceful and make Cory ascend into power without bloodshed. There were no illegal and unconstitutional moves from the side of the people there as the dictator had been the one putting up all illegal structures in order to strengthen his authoritarian rule.

Dear Folks, let us speak up against ahistorical and anti-people analyses that denigrate our capability of launching a movement against dictatorships. Shut them up because they are muddling our past only to give credibility to the heirs of the dictator who want to rise up into power even if they have not justified their amassing of wealth and have not felt remorseful over the reign of the dictatorial regime from 1972 to 1986,
