PARALLEL MORAL VALUES

Some Islamic quotations I had come across with reveal hints of Christian moral values. and yet, Muhammad is the prophet and founder of Islam which is claimed by extremists as their religion, the Maute group which is creating violence in Marawi City.

Read this:  "The best charity is that given to a relative who does not like you." [Fiqh-us-Sunnah:V3N100]- Prophet Muhammad."

Christ's view on generosity speaks of a similar attitude:

Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts.  But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything--all she had to live on.” (Mark 12:41-44)

The poor woman could not have been in the good graces of Christ but she gave him all that she had. And so Christ recognized her charity to him, thus teaching his disciples that generosity is not measured by the amounts given but by the act of giving only

The way Islam looks at women is as kindly as the Christians in the following quotes:

They (your wives) are your garment and you are a       garment for them.” (Qur’an, 2: 187)

Proverbs: 31:2 She opens her mouth with wisdom and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue."

Prophet Muhammad respects all people regardless of religion.

A funeral procession once passed in front of the Prophet
Muhammad (peace be upon him) and he stood up out of
respect. When he was told the person in the coffin was
Jewish and not Muslim, he said: "Was it not a living
 (soul)?" [Bukhari:V2N399]

The Christian faith also has that universal love for

Humanity but pardon the gender blindness.

1 Peter 2:17  "Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear

God, honor the king."

The Christian faith spreads a blanket over killing. In the

Ten Commandments, the seventh is "Thou shalt not kill."

Along the same vein Muhammad says Islam teaches peace

not violence. - Pervez Musharraf

Great minds run parallel morally but it is the
interpreters who commit mistakes of giving a
distorted meaning to their ideas, those who want
naked power, especially political power.
