IN HARMONY AND PEACE

We shall learn a lot from this experience in the Marawi City siege down south. Our lives will change, to many from Mindanao, it would mean a great deal. For us in MetroManila, as it is quite far and we get our news only through the media, we will also change, for the better.

First of all, we see now that the rebels were intelligent but their moral values are questionable. They used their intelligence to spy on the government, to weaken our institutions, to build bombs, to kill people. In fact I can say that they were trained scientifically to kill, to bomb places

How sad that our young people have been drawn to this kind of ideology.

So, the changes that will happen to us, mainly is that we are now stronger morally to confront rebels in our midst. We would know how to deal with other rebels in the future.

Secondly, we will be looking for ways to rally the youth to more healthy ideas, to those community ideals that would make our country a safe and democratic society for all.

Thirdly, we shall be more resolute in finding ways to make our Muslim people and other indigenous groups happy to live in our society, without sacrificing their customs and traditions, and/or without changing religions. Each one will be respected for his and her belief.

Let us embrace societal changes with a positive outlook that we shall all live together in harmony and peace.

Islamic Abstract Mosaic Art
Tens of thousands of individual tiles

Shiraz. These intricate mosaic patterns
are known as Girih, and can be seen
in Muslim cultures around the world.
