the mother cannot breastfeed her baby because she is malnourished herself. woman sells her body to be able to get paid and thus to have money to buy food...families break up because parent has to go abroad to have work and money to send to them...students drop out of school for lack of money to buy books, materials, for baon, for food...expensive electricity prevents boiling of water to clean it of germs; students walk to school for lack of money to pay for jeep fares; workers can't wash their sweaty clothes for lack of money to buy soap...few jobs are available because companies are closing down due to expensive electricity and high cost of living; government cannot raise the allowances for the poor due to companies not paying correct taxes as they themselves are suffering from high costs of manufacturing their products...more people drawn to drugs to forget their poverty...thievery more rampant and brazen -- at restaurants bags are snatched; jeepney passengers held up...dishonesty at work among workers and professionals will become the norm; public toilets will be very smelly due to lack of supplies to clean them...fights over who can use computers at cheap public places shall occur more frequently ; transportation problems will be more acute;low government budgets allotted to transport as public works are given priority; more expensive transport of vegetables from the provinces to Metromanila making food expensive...eyesight of the Filipino people to suffer due to lack of Vitamin A (carrots will be expensive);plants in public places will wither and die due to lack of watering; more lonely people; mental health will suffer; tourist thrust will be" See the poor of the Philippines, despite being rich in natural resources!" more officials will turn corrupt- "make hay while here at work" is their philosophy; people to be urged to join armed struggle by radicals; more urban conflicts especially at crowded communities, and many, many more.
I am forecasting what will happen to our country once inflation is not arrested, Folks. Let us not treat it lightly. It will be the fuse that will wipe out all the gains that we have earned from the glorious days of 1986. Let us not waste our time but focus our eyes into insuring that the economic managers of this administration face up to the realities of the people. No change of leadership will insure that but a mindset of being pro-people will.
