How do we measure the achievements of the Pasig Rehabilitation Commission (PRC)?

1. Pasig River needs cleaning up. So we ask, how many kilometers has the PRC cleaned up?

2. The people in the surrounding areas want to swim in the Pasig River. How many people have been able to do that? Or why has not that been possible? What are blockades to the cleaning up of the Pasig River to make it safe for swimming?

3.The MetroManilans want to be able to smell fresh air whenever we pass bridges over the Pasig River. Everything remains as a desire. Why so?

4. Writers and artists want to be able to sit by the banks and write their pieces or practice their art. Everything remains as a desire. Why so?

5. The Metromanilans are in need of another safe transportation route and the Pasig River is one candidate for that. The Pasig River Ferry System is supposed to be the answer, but how safe is it? What is the condition of the air when passing through the river?

6. Where does the money of the Pasig Ferry go? How much does it earn daily? What are its expenses? We need an accounting of the earnings and expenditures in order to see if the people are benefitting from it.

7. The PasigRiver has been a source of inspiration for the song,Mutya ng Pasig by Nicanor  Abelardo:
Form:Kumintang
Historical Period:American Period
Date of Composition:1926
About the Song:This kumintang was inspired by a carnival along the Pasig in 1926. The celebration moved Nicanor Abelardo who made an allusion to the mythical past with its bygone splendor. In the song, the mutya speaks, in the light of the full moon, lamenting her kingdom and love that was lost, symbolizing the freedom lost by the country to the Americans. This song was arranged by Abelardo for full orchestra, then it was also arranged by Elsa O‘Farrel for chamber music orchestra in 1941. (From the CCP Encyclopedia of Philippine Art, vol. 6, p. 255-256)

We must make Mutya ng Pasig by Abelardo popular in the airwaves and on TV in order to inculcate among the people the need to love this River.
